The Seven Mysteries Chess Board

This work was created in 1977.  It is hand inlaid and oil painted.  Over 75 coats of varnish were applied and polished to obtain the high gloss and long enduring surface.  Because of it’s age, it has an old, European spirit. The alternating squares on the board each have an oil sketch within them.

The back image is a homage to the Chinese Seven Mysteries,  the primary strokes found in calligraphy’s origin.
